‘Where there is a lack of ways out, only humour remains.’ (Sigmund Freud)
How can the world of the 1920s, which was characterised by economic depression but also great artistic creativity, be transferred to the present day? Once again, we find ourselves in the 1920s. Silent film gems are brought to life and transferred from the big screen to the cabaret stage. The garishly colourful reality becomes black and white. Virtuoso piano playing, which creates an entire orchestra, overlays the rattling of the film projector, while actors explain the world with expressionist power, with guaranteed dubious success. A mini world theatre: melodramas drunk with longing, tipsy comedies in short format, rebellious one-act plays about the little people, their happiness in misfortune and their charmingly irreverent fight against the threat of decline.
The team of the legendary ‘Dingdarium’ has reorganised and is looking forward to seeing you in the theatre yurt at the Kunstverein Wagenhalle project space.
